Data.coop is a consumer data cooperative I'm developing with my co-founder, Daniel Huskoff. Members own the cooperative, earn a data dividend when their data creates value, and can have their data deleted on request. Ownership is shared among consumers, employees, and investors.

The idea draws on Sandy Pentland's work at the MIT Media Lab on data cooperatives. Personal data is already worth money to the companies that collect it, and the people it describes see none of that money. A cooperative puts those people on the ownership side of the ledger.
